5th District projects included in supplemental transportation budget signed by governor
On March 25, Gov. Jay Inslee signed the 2016 supplemental transportation budget into law.
Rep. Jay Rodne, who serves on the House Transportation Committee, worked with legislators in both chambers to secure funds for two projects in the 5th Legislative District. The budget will provide $150,000 for a corridor safety study along State Route 169 to identify necessary safety improvements and traffic congestion relief. In addition, $100,000 will be provided for improvements on arterial roads in North Bend.
"Recent accidents and fatalities along major highways in our district, including highway 169, are unacceptable, and improvements along these routes must be prioritized," said Rodne, R-Snoqualmie. "Both projects funded in the budget are important first steps to providing for safer, less congested roads. I am proud to support a supplemental budget plan that makes a commitment to these projects and mitigating traffic throughout Washington."
The budget, House Bill 2524, passed both chambers with overwhelming support during the regular 60-day session, which adjourned March 10.
