 Governor signs Dye's bill extending heavy-haul corridor into Washington state

Rep. Mary Dye saw her first bill signed into law by Gov. Jay Inslee Friday. Under House Bill 2807, the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) will designate certain portions of State Routes 128 and 193 as heavy-haul corridor, extending the corridor from Lewiston, Idaho into Washington state. This will provide for the movement of agricultural goods and commodities by overweight vehicles, which are not to exceed 129,000 pounds.

“We continue to experience extensive growth at our ports,” said Dye, R-Pomeroy. “This heavy-haul designation will serve as an essential component for the economic development of Eastern Washington, and fosters our interstate relationships. I want to thank the Port of Whitman at Wilma, and Commissioner Kammerzell, for bringing this issue to my attention and for their hard work, dedication and support of this legislation.”

Four-and-a-half miles from the Port of Lewiston to the Port of Whitman at Wilma will be designated as heavy-haul corridor.

Dye’s bill passed the Legislature with strong bipartisan support. It will go into effect January 1, 2017.
